Information about Resources and Place Scrutiny Committee

The Resources and Place Scrutiny Committee shall review and scrutinise how the needs of residents and other service users are met by the Resources and Place Directorates of Council and the Council’s partners; and how performance is evaluated and improved.

 

Its remit shall include the following services:

·       Economic Development

·       Planning

·       Transport Planning

·       Public Transport

·       Parking

·       Highways

·       Flood Risk

·       Countryside (including Parks and PRoW)

·       Environment Delivery

·       Waste Management

·       Public Protection

·       Emergency Planning

·       Building Communities Together Partnership

·       Culture

·       Sports and Leisure

·       Commissioning and Procurement

·       Customer Engagement and Transformation

·       Finance and Property (including scrutiny of the budget)

·       People Management

·       Legal and Democratic Services

·       Communications

·       ICT

 

The Committee is designated as the Council’s Crime and Disorder Committee established in accordance with s.19, Police and Justice Act 2006 (which requires the Council to have a crime and disorder committee with power (a) to review or scrutinise decisions made, or other action taken, in connection with the discharge by the responsible authorities of their crime and disorder functions; and (b) to make reports or recommendations to the local authority with respect to the discharge of those functions). It shall ensure that at least one such review is undertaken each year.

 

The committee is comprised of nine councillors, reflecting the political composition of the Council. Members of the Executive cannot be members of this or any scrutiny committee.

 

The Resources and Place Scrutiny Committee shall have four scheduled meetings per year. Scrutiny topics shall either be considered as part of a meeting of the full committee, or reviewed by a task and finish group appointed by the committee, which will report back to the committee with its findings and recommendations.

Scrutiny of other services is undertaken by the Children andYoung People Scrutiny Committee and the Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee.
