Provide a regular evening and Sunday bus service along the No. 2 and 103B routes
Residents of the Wash Common Ward currently have no No. 2
service after 6.15 pm and no service on Sunday. No 103B service
after 2.30 pm, and no service at all on Saturday or Sundays. This
leaves a community of over 4,000 people without public transport to
the town centre or its onward connections. In the context of the
council’s active travel strategy and its commitments on
climate change, this lack of provision is increasingly difficult to
justify.
Improved services would also benefit local hospitality and cultural
venues, which rely on easy, sustainable access for visitors. Most
importantly, residents themselves would welcome the ability to
enjoy an evening out without having to rely on taxis or face
walking uphill in the dark or in poor weather.
