The Downs School - Create a Safe drop zone for students and supports local residents.
We, the undersigned, petition the Council to Consider a Kiss and Drop area at the top of Manor Crescent to create a safe place for parents and carers to drop off their children, that does not create a daily inconvenience to local residents with the additional build up of traffic during key drop off and pickup times.
We would like to establish a turning circle on an unused area of
land outside the school, here parents could pull in and safely drop
off their child without risk to life due to speeding, reversing and
general busyness of the area at pickup and drop off times. Our
local residents are, quite rightly, becoming increasingly
frustrated by the impact of the build up of cars outside their
homes during this time and there have been occurrences of near
misses with young students trying to navigate the busy road.
We must support our families and local residents to create a
solution that resolves these ongoing issues for all.
